Vespa finally replaced the P200 clutch
design after close to 20 years of use. The Cosa clutch is a new design
using 8 smaller central springs instead of 7 perimeter springs. These
are a direct replacement for P-series clutches and are much easier to
use, require less force to disengage, and are much smoother.
Below are some interesting shots of a
disassembled Cosa clutch with a P200 below that for reference. The Cosa
drive bell is very different with a much larger central area. The drive
plate is also very different as seen below to the right. Plates are
similar but have a larger internal diameter opening and engaging teeth
on the Cosa clutch.
