Primer:I used a 2 part primer from PPG - consult your local PPG dealer for the exact type of primer you need and the possibility of a tinted primer to closely match the top coat. This type of primer can be thinned with acetone to get a "runnier" mix which works well on the curves of a Vespa. Pour some down the main channel and slosh it around to coat and seal gaps in the spot welding where water may seep in and rust the interior. After the primer has dried it needs to be sanded (wet or dry) with fine emery paper (600 grit) to be ready for the top coat.
A quick wet sand gets the bike ready for the color coat. After sanding I rub the parts down with laquer thinner to remove any oil and grease which can cause ugly problems with the finish coats. Next Section --> |
